Bringing in the Boomers

January 31, 2012 - 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM
ROOM: CONGRESSIONAL A

According to an analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2010, spending by consumers in the 50+ age demo was at US$2.9 trillion, up 45% over the course of 10 years. Conversely, spending from those under 50 was at $3.3 trillion, up just 6% over the decade studied. Boomers are still a major buying force, but how are networks and production companies currently serving this financially attractive market? What do boomers want to see in non-fiction, and are they getting it? This panel will bring together producers, programmers and research experts to shed light on why the 50+ audience matters, and the programming that matters to it.
